Diocese of Winchester

The Diocese of Winchester (Latin: Dioecesis Wintoniensis ) is an Anglican diocese in the ecclesiastical province of Canterbury Church of England, based in Winchester. Until the English Reformation, it was a Roman Catholic diocese.

History

The Diocese of Winchester was founded in 660 by the bishop's seat from Dorchester to Winchester. In 909 the diocese of Winchester was part of its territory from the foundation of the diocese Ramsbury.
