Diogo Alexandre Alves Ferreira ( born October 5, 1989 in Footscray ) is an Australian football player.

Career

Ferreira played in the offspring of the Green Gully SC, before coming to a successful trial moved to the youth department of the Portuguese giants FC Porto in 2005. He then spent two years on loan at youth level of AD Oeiras, before returning to Australia. After playing one season for Green Gully in the Victorian Premier League in 2009, he joined the 2009/10 season the junior team Melbourne Victory on, with which he departed in the National Youth League.

In March 2010, he came under the AFC Champions League for the first time for Victory's professional team to use and signed a little later, as his youth teammate Petar Franjic, a professional contract for two years. Under coach Ernie Merrick Ferreira came in the following two seasons, mostly in the midfield regularly used, but managed not to permanently establish itself as a regular player there. This period also saw numerous appeals fell in the Australian U-23 selection. Besides participating in a tournament in Vietnam in 2010, he was also unsuccessful in qualifying for the Olympic football tournament in 2012.

In the season 2012/13 Ferreira came mainly under Ange Postecoglou as a right-back is used, the player's performance in light of the fact that this is not his " natural position " than "okay" designated. Despite 16 operations during the season Ferreira received no new contract offer at the end of the season. A new employer, he found a little later with the league rivals Brisbane Roar, in which he has also been used in the pre-season 2013/14 on the right-back position.
