Dipcadi serotinum

Dipcadi is a plant genus of the family of asparagus plants ( Asparagaceae ). The botanical name of the genus is probably derived from the originally oriental name for species from which today in the genus grape hyacinths ( Muscari ) are classified.

Description

The species of the genus Dipcadi are perennials with underground bulbs that have papierige or slightly fleshy bulb scales. The appearing with or after the flowers foliage leaves are linear to band-shaped and rarely something succulent.

The inflorescence is a loose, long -stalked spike. The perianth is white, greenish, yellowish or brownish, often Glauk. Your arranged in two distinct circles tepals are fused together at their base, forming a tube. The outer, spread - ascending tepals wearing a thread-like to strongly conical appendage. The inner, ascending at the tips or spread tepals continue the Perigonröhre. The stamens are fused at their base with the Perigonröhre. The seated ovary contains numerous ovules.

The fruits are membranous capsule fruits. They contain together pressures, winged seeds.

Systematics and distribution

The genus Dipcadi is widespread in southern Europe, the Arabian Peninsula, in the tropical and southern Africa, Madagascar and southern India.

The first description by Friedrich Casimir Medicus was published in 1790. The genus Dipcadi include the following types:
