Dirk Hayhurst ( born March 24, 1981 in Canton, Ohio) is an American baseball player who was known for his simultaneous work as an author in print media and on the Internet.

Baseball career

Hayhurst played in 2000-2003 college baseball at Kent State University.

2003 Hayhurst was selected in the eighth round of the MLB Drafts of the San Diego Padres. He celebrated 23 August 2008 with the Padres at the age of 27 years, his MLB debut against the San Francisco Giants. 2009 Hayhurst pitched 15 games for the Toronto Blue Jays.

2007 Hayhurst began to write for the magazine Baseball America his column Non- Prospect Diaries, in which he describes life in the professional leagues below the upper house of the MLB. The Non- Prospect Diaries fast became popular and in 2010 published his first book Hayhurst, The Bullpen Gospels, which describes his 2007 season in the Minor League. The book became a New York Times bestseller and very positive reviews.
