Disocactus phyllanthoides is a species of the genus Disocactus in the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). The specific epithet phyllanthoides means (Latin ) similar phyllanthus '.

Description

Disocactus phyllanthoides grows richly branched and will be up to 1 meter long. The main shoots are basal stalk -like shaped, flattened at the top. The side shoots are pale green, often tinged with red. You have protruding midrib and lateral nerves and are lanceolate, turning round, flattened and tapered serrated blunt. They are 15 to 30 centimeters long and 2.5 to 4 centimeters wide. The areoles are unbedornt. The bell-shaped to funnel-shaped pink flowers reach a size of 8 to 10 inches in length and 7-9 inches in diameter. The 3 to 4 inches in diameter and slightly ribbed large fruit are initially colored green and later red.

Distribution, systematics and hazard

Disocactus phyllanthoides is common in the Mexican states of Puebla and Veracruz and is found at altitudes ranging from 1500 to 1850 meters.

The first description was in 1813 as Cactus phyllanthoides by Augustin- de Candolle Pyrame. Wilhelm Barthlott set the type 1991 Disocactus.

In the Red List of Threatened Species IUCN, the type is known as " Vulnerable (VU) ," ie, performed as endangered.
