District 2 (Zürich)

The Circuit 2 is a city district of Zurich city and lies on the left bank of Lake Zurich. It includes the 1893 eingemeindeten in the neighborhoods Enge, Wollishofen and Leimbach.

History

The circle 2 was created as part of the first incorporation in 1893 as a city circuit II. It includes unchanged since its inception, the formerly independent communities of narrowness and Wollishofen. Newly created it was the neighborhood Leimbach, comprising the formerly belonging to the municipality Engenweiler sub- Leimbach and Mittelleimbach. The formerly to the municipality Wollishofen belonging hamlet Oberleimbach, however, was not incorporated, but ceded to the municipality Knives, to which he still is today.

Since the revision of the cities of 1913, which in this case had no territorial changes still genuine renumbering result, Arabic numerals are used for numbering, which since then circuit 2 is written.
