Districts of Republican Subordination

The Nohijahoi tobei Dschumhurij region ( Tajik: Ноҳияҳои тобеи ҷумҳурӣ, Russian: Районы республиканского подчинения, Rajony respublikanskogo podtschinenija to German: the Republic of subordinate areas, formerly known as Karotegin or Kofarnihon ) is a district in Tajikistan, which is administered directly by the central government.

It is approximately 28,600 km ² and has 1.6069 million inhabitants, with a population density of 56.2 inhabitants per km ². The capital city is Dushanbe, which is also the capital district of Tajikistan within the district Nohijahoi tobei Dschumhurij.

The region is bordered to the north by the province of Sughd, Khatlon province in the southwest on the and on the east by the autonomous province of Gorno-Badakhshan. Nohijahoi tobei Dschumhurij is in turn divided into 13 districts themselves. Previously it was the Karotegin province. The region has no labeling according to ISO 3166-2.
