Ditto (drive)

The Iomega Ditto is a tape drive for the purpose of backing up computer data of Iomega.

It was produced from 1995 by Iomega. It is equipped with QIC and Travan tape cartridges and has a net capacity of 400 MB with Travan media as well as 80 to 120 MB with QIC tapes. The newer version ' Ditto Max's used both Travan tapes as well as the longer Ditto Max tapes with increased capacity. The external drive is connected via the parallel port and the Internal on the floppy connector or via a special distributed by Iomega controller card, which promises a higher data transfer rate, unlike the floppy connector. The high-end product of the Ditto - series represents the ' Ditto Max Professional' drive that can also use bands with up to 10GB of storage capacity. For the today usual PCs datasets Ditto is no longer practical.

Crafters from the area of model aircraft today use the converted drive motor like as a drive for the propeller.
