Dobrzyń nad Wisłą

Dobrzyń nad Wisłą ( German Dobrin, 1939-1945 Dobrin on the Vistula ) is a city in the south of the county powiat Lipnowski in the Kujawsko - Pomerania in Poland. The city is located on the Vistula River near Wloclawek. It has about 2,200 inhabitants.

History

The first written mention of the village (as Dobrin ) comes from the years 1065th In 1228 the Knights Order of Fratres Milites Christ was settled in place. This Order of Dobrin went in 1234 to the Teutonic Order, who took over for a short time the rule over the place.

The city rights were granted at the beginning of the 13th century. In the 13th century and the early 14th century Dobrin was the capital of a principality.

At the beginning of the 13th century a castle was built in the city. In 1409 it was destroyed in a war between Poland and the Teutonic Order. At the Polish defenders of the castle looks a cross of iron. 1939 to 1945, the village belonged to the German Empire situated in the district Leipe (West Prussia ), Reichsgau West Prussia - later Danzig-West Prussia ( Regierungsbezirk Marienwerderstraße ).
