Dog (film)

Dog is a British animated short film by Suzie Templeton from the year 2001.

Action

The boy Danny suffers the death of his mother. Although he needs the assistance of his father, this is far too caught up in his own grief. He assures Danny that the death was peaceful and did not suffer the mother. Father and son have a dog, Jake. Danny finds the old dog one day powerless in front of the door. That night, Jake's condition worsened and he trembles and suffers. The father embeds it on a pillow and call the vet. Although he points out to him that it is an emergency, the vet can not come. The father then smothered Jake with a pillow to release him from his suffering. He is unaware that Danny is in the door and looks at everything with. The next morning, the father tells his son that the dog had died peacefully and did not suffer. The son asks his father "What mother?" ( "Like mom ?") And the father remains motionless.

Production

Dog originated in 2001 as the closing film Suzie Templeton's at the Royal College of Art animated the film, which was implemented as a puppet in stop-motion, while in a basement room of the university. After the film was over in the UK in 2001, he experienced at the 2002 Brooklyn Film Festival and its U.S. premiere.

Awards

Dog won the 2002 BAFTA for Best Animated Short. He won the McLaren Award for New British Animation at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and the Grand Prize of the Ottawa International Student Animation Festival. On the British Animation Awards ( BAA ) Templeton was awarded the Paul Berry Award for Best Student Film.
