Dolna, Strzelce County

Dollna (Polish Dolna ) is a place in the bilingual Polish community Leschnitz ( Leśnica ) in the powiat Strzelecki of the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

The road Dollna village is situated about 30 kilometers south-east of Opole and 6 kilometers northeast of Leschnitz in the historic Upper Silesia.

History

Dollna was first mentioned in 1302 as Dolna. 1615 was acquired by Count Georg von Rederns this village. In 1783 it was owned by the Count Colonna. Dollna had already then a school, where a teacher was employed. It was attended by the children from Scharnosin. 1783 Dollna counted 195 inhabitants. 1817 Dollna belonged to Baron von Gastheib. The number of inhabitants increased to 249 Johann Georg knee recorded in 1845 Dollna 65 houses, a Barbican, a guest house and a limestone quarry. At that time, 463 residents were counted. The first church in Dollna was first mentioned in 1335. The current neo-Gothic church of St. Peter and Paul dates back to the year 1856., It is still old masonry from the 14th century remain.

Economy and infrastructure

As early as 1845 we find today in Dollna a guest house, a church and a mom-and-pop store. The former school building now houses the local kindergarten. The cemetery in Dollna is shared by the citizens of the adjoining village Scharnosin. A lounge of the German minority now serves as a youth center and meeting hall.
