Dolný Kubín

Dolny Kubin ( German sub Kubin, Hungarian Alsókubin ) is a city in northern Slovakia at the Orava river ( German Arwa ).

The city was first mentioned in writing in 1314 as Kublen, other sources speak of 1325. 1632 were her town and market rights conferred as oppidum. In the 19th century it was a center of the Slovak national literature, worked and died here, among other things, the writer Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav. Today, Dolny Kubin center of Orava region and capital of the same name Okres.

Located in North Rhine-Westphalia Stolberg ( Rhineland) based company Prymetall built a new distribution and slitting center in the industrial park of Dolny Kubin.
