Domažlice District

Okres Domažlice ( German: District Taus ) is a district in the border area of ​​the West Bohemian western Bohemia in the Czech Republic. To 1,123 km ² live about 60,000 inhabitants. Main town is Domažlice.

The largest part of the district, in which 12 nature reserves and 13 natural monuments are located, lies at an altitude of 450 meters. Among the most valuable the jungles Čerchovské hvozdy include ( Black Kopfer forests), Bystřice, Pleš, Stary Hirštejn, and remains of the marsh and wetland areas Louka u Šnajberského rybníka, Postřekovské rybníky, Hvožďanská Louka, as well as the nature parks Zelenov, Sedmihoří and Český les. In the wood processing are the largest employers Anton Heggen Staller, Chodovia CZ, OTM furniture, textile processing HODETA - shirts, DAMO. In agriculture, mainly grain, beets, oilseeds and maize are grown, the livestock sector is engaged in the breeding of cattle, pigs and sheep. An important role is also played by the forestry. Unemployment is the lowest in the county with 4.6%.
