Domenico Mariani

Cardinal Domenico Mariani ( born July 3, 1863 in Posta, † April 23, 1939 in Rome) was cardinal.

Life

He attended the Lyceum Angelo Mai, Rome, and later the Pontifical Roman Seminary. He was ordained priest on 18 December 1886 and was until 1900 in the pastoral care in the diocese of Rome worked. He was a canon of St. Peter 's Basilica until 1917. Pope Benedict XV. appointed him on 30 September 1914 secret chamberlain of His Holiness. Pius XI. took him on 16 December 1935 as cardinal deacon with the title Diakonia San Cesareo in Palatio to the College of Cardinals. Two days later, he was appointed Cardinal Prefect of the management of the assets of the Holy See. He participated in the conclave of 1939 that Pius XII. chose. At the cemetery, Campo di Verano he is buried.
