Dominique Pifarély

Dominique Pifarély ( * 1957 in Begles ) is a French jazz violinist.

Pifarély had from the age of six years, a classical violin studies at the Conservatory of Montreuil. From 1978, he worked with Didier Levallet, first in the group Swing Strings System, later in a trio with Gérard Marais. In the following years he was a sideman, inter alia, by Martial Solal, Eddy Louis's, François Jeanneau, Jean -Paul Celea, Patrice Caratini, François Couturier, Marc Ducret, Patrice Caratini, Mike Westbrook, Mathias Rüegg and Günter Sommer. 1984 took part in Mike Westbrook's tribute Ellington On Duke's Birthday.

Since 1985 Pifarély worked regularly with clarinetist Louis Sclavis. With him, the guitarist Marc Ducret and bassist Bruno Chevillon 1992 he founded the Sclavis / Pifarély Acoustic Quartet. He later worked mostly with his quintet, partly in duo formations with Joachim Kühn, Daniel Humair, Vincent Courtois, Michel Godard, Stefano Battaglia, Rabih Abou- Khalil, Tim Berne, Jean -Paul Celea, Carlos Zingaro, Hélène Labarrière and others.
