Dominus (Band)

Dominus (Latin for " Lord ") was a death metal band from the Danish town of Ringsted. The band existed between 1991 and 2000 and released four studio albums.

History

The band was formed in 1991 by singer and guitarist Michael Poulsen. After the band with guitarist Morton Saxtorph, bassist Butch Christensen and drummer Jess Larsen is completely Dominus took on their first, self-titled demo. With Ambrose locus and Astaroth follow in the next two years, two more demos. About the Greek record company Molon Lave appears in 1993, the single Sidereal Path of Colours. Finally Dominus of Progress Records are contracted.

In March 1995, appeared with View to the Dim the debut album of the band. After several lineup changes, the second album The First Nine, on which the band combines their Death Metal sound with elements of rock ' n' roll, a year later. 1997 already follows the third album Vol.Beat, which was released on the label Diehard. Musically the influences of rock music of the 1950s are even more strongly to the fore. After a long break, and further changes in the band line Apparitions 2000 Godfallos finally the last album of the band.

Though Dominus received good reviews for their latest album sparked Michael Poulsen on the band, as he was the Death Metal scene and employees of the record company Diehard tired. Poulsen then founded the band Volbeat, the advanced end of the 2000s to one of the most successful Danish rock bands. Anders Nielsen - which now bears the name Anders Kjølholm - is also active with Volbeat. Franz Gottschalk was active between 2002 and 2006 at Volbeat before he had to leave the band. He later joined the band Illdisposed. The other musicians were no longer in evidence.

Volbeat

The Danish band Volbeat, founded among others by former Dominus members, named after the published 1997 Dominus album Vol.Beat. A majority of the songs on this album is provided with intro dialogues, which were the Jerry Lee Lewis biopic Great Balls of Fire removed and act mainly in a descriptive way by the Rock ' n' Roll.
