Do not Move is an Italian movie from the year 2004. The film was based on a novel by Margaret Mazzantini, who has also worked on the script.

Action

Timoteo is a surgeon in a Roman hospital. His 15 - year-old daughter Angela is admitted after a serious moped accident in this clinic. While the daughter is in a coma, Timoteo thinks back to the time 15 years ago. He lived with his beautiful wife Elsa, who is also a successful business woman next to her beauty. On the way into her luxurious weekend house by the sea Timoteo 's car breaks down. In an inhospitable suburban area he is looking for help and encounters Italia. Italia is a lower class child who lives in a small house surrounded by high-rise construction landscape. Thither she goes with him and allowed him to call. The cheap dressed Italia is the exact opposite of his wife Elsa. Timoteo feels attracted to her. After his car was repaired, he says goodbye to Italia. Believing they never see again, he raped her. Disturbed by this incident he goes after the weekend in luxury with his wife back to her to apologize. They meet on a regular basis from now on and it develops a love affair that develops into a double life of a successful surgeon.

Italia and Elsa become pregnant during this period both of Timoteo. Timoteo know that now is the time of separation from Italia has come. He tells her of a serious illness of his wife and that he therefore could not leave. As Italia learns that Elsa is pregnant, she decides to abort her child illegally. Timoteo meets Italia randomly in the city and decides to change his life. He wants to be only with Italia, although his wife, Elsa, in the ninth month is about to give birth. After delivery, he moves with Italia in their home region and dreams of a new beginning in his life. In the night it comes to Italia to complications due to their faulty abortion. Timoteo takes her to a hospital and operated on herself but as far as your body is poisoned, that they die after surgery.

15 years later Timoteo believes that the dead Italia watches protectively over the life of his daughter Angela and actually manages to survive the severe brain surgery and Angela.

  • Lexicon of international film: Sensitive staged, excellently photographed drama about fate, luck and transience, which deals with the issues with elegance and poetry. The touching story give two convincing performer a high degree of credibility.

Awards

Penelope Cruz and Sergio Castellitto in 2004 won a David di Donatello as Best Actor of the year. Cruz was also nominated for the European Film Awards and was awarded the European Film Award audience.
