Don Nickles

Donald "Don" Lee Nickles ( born December 6, 1948 in Ponca City, Oklahoma ) is an American politician and entrepreneur.

Life

After his school days in Oklahoma Nickles studied at Oklahoma State University economics. After his studies he worked in the company founded by his grandfather in 1918 Nickles Machine Corporation in Ponca City. He rose to become Vice President of the company.

Nickles is a member of the Republican Party. From 1978 to 1980, Nickles deputy in the Senate of Oklahoma. From January 5, 1981 to January 3, 2005 Nickles was the successor of Henry Bellmon Senator in the Senate of the United States. His successor as Senator was Republican politician Tom Coburn. After his time as a Senator Nickles was again active in the private sector and a member of several corporate boards as among other Cheasapeake Energy and Valero Energy.

Nickles is married to Linda Nickles and has four children. He is a member of the Catholic Church.
