Donaufestival

The Danube Festival is an event series for contemporary art and culture in Lower Austria.

The festival was founded in 1988 and is supported and funded by the province of Lower Austria. The Danube Festival since 2005 under the artistic direction of Tomas Zierhofer -Kin. Two weekends in the spring Krems an international platform for new performance art and music. New theater form, media, theater, film, video, rap, spoken word, hip-hop, experimental music, sound art, post-rock, electronic and pop discourse on offer. Artists from different genres deal with the strategies, dystopias and utopias of the media and mass society.

Well-known artists and groups that had occurred within the Danube Festival, for example: the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, David Tibet, Nurse With Wound, Will Oldham, Throbbing Gristle, Gang of Four, JG Thirlwell, Věra Bila & Kale, the Chris Jarrett Trio and Squarepusher.

The company is based Krems on the Danube, the main venues, the exhibition halls and the Krems Krems Minoritenkirche sound space.
