Dorothea Orem

Dorothea Elizabeth Orem (* 1914 in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, † June 22, 2007 in Savannah ) was an American nurse, Pflegetheoretikerin and businesswoman.

Life

Orem graduated in 1930 their exams at the nursing school in Washington. Then she took on a part-time study of nursing education, she with a Master of Science of Education graduated from the Catholic University of America, Washington, 1945.

In 1970, she founded a consulting firm to care and education. Published in 1971 their Orem theory of self-care.

On 22 June 2007 Dorothea Orem died in her home in Savannah.

In 1968 Dorothea Orem began developing and testing their theory of self- care that they in the book " Nursing concepts of practice" published in 1971.
