Dory Funk Jr.

Dormace Funk Jr. ( born February 3, 1941 in Amarillo, Texas), known by his ring name Dory Funk, Jr. is a former American professional wrestler and wrestling coach. He is the son of Dory Funk Sr., his brother Terry Funk. He is the inventor of the Texas Cloverleaf task handle and maintain the Funking Conservatory, a wrestling school. His students are part of a "! Bang! " mentioned wrestling show in Ocala, Florida. Funk Jr. wore the NWA World Heavyweight Championship title over a period of four years, which means the fifth longest reign of this title.

In 2009 he was introduced together with his brother Terry in the WWE Hall of Fame.

Career

Beginning

Dory Funk Jr. ' s Wrestlingkarrierre began in January 1963 after he finished his college football career with a 15:14 victory with his team from the West Texas State University against Ohio University at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. Radio first match was a win over Don Fargo in Amarillo, Texas. In his corner was the West Texas State University All American Jerry Logan, Fargo was accompanied by his brother Jim. Dory Funk Jr. received additional support from the West Texas State University football amateur wrestler team of Tascosa High School team, which trained Dory as a student coach under Coach James Kyle.

National Wrestling Alliance

Dory Funk Jr. came in 1968 to the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA ) and won on 11 February 1969, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from Gene Kiniski in Tampa, Florida. He held that title the following four and a half years, the second longest uninterrupted reign for a NWA title ( Lou Thesz was the NWA World Title on 27 November 1949 to 15 March 1956). Dory and his brother Terry are the only brothers in history that this item held.

Dory Funk Jr. lost on 24 May 1973, the NWA World Championship after an incomplete recovering from injury he had suffered in his own words from him and his father in an accident on his ranch. Conflicting sources suggest that this accident was only invented because Dory Funk Sr. did not want his son the title against another face- wrestler Jack Brisco, lost, so the match was reclassified so that the Heel Harley Race Radio new enemy was. This assertion may be used only as a tentative explanation that he lost the title. Race held the title just a few months before he took him Brisco.

Dory Funk Jr. joined in the 1970s and early 1980s in the NWA, mainly in the regions of Mid-Atlantic, Georgia, Florida and the Central States, at. In December 1984, he played with his brother Terry a tag team match against Bruiser Brody and Stan Hansen, which later received a 5-star rating from Dave Meltzer.

In January 1986, Dory debut (under the name " Hoss " ) at the Terry Funk side in the WWF. At WrestleMania 2, they defeated Junkyard Dog and Tito Santana. Terry left the promotion shortly afterwards, Dory, however, remained and formed a new tag team with his " brother " Jimmy Jack Funk, which was not related to reality with the Orchestra. Dory Funk Jr. appeared at the Royal Rumble 1996, again as a single wrestler in the WWF.

Later years

Today Dory Funk Jr. Funking Conservatory leads the Wrestlinkschule where she teaches his wrestling techniques. Some of his famous students are Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Christian, Lita, Kurt Angle, Mickie James, Edge, Ted DiBiase, test, and Delirious.

On 1 March 2008 Dory Funk and Nishimura defeated their opponents Genichiro Tenryu and Masanobu Fuchi in radio farewell match.

On 16 February 2009 it was announced on WWE Raw that Dory and Terry Funk would be introduced by Dusty Rhodes in the WWE Hall of Fame.

In TNA Today from 1 April 2010 Dory Funk did an interview with Jeremy Borash.

Private life

Dory married his first wife, Jimmie, 1960. Were divorced in 1983. They have three children and five grandchildren. One of his grandchildren is trained by Funk Jr..

1989 Dory married his second and current wife, Marti.
