Dörzbach located in Jagsttal in 230-430 meters altitude.

Community structure

The community Dörzbach consists of Dörzbach ( 1465 inhabitants) itself ( with houses birch courtyards and St. Wendel zum Stein ) and from the eingemeindeten former municipalities Hohebach ( with the hamlets Eisenhutsrot, Heßlachshof and Wendischenhof together 646 inhabitants), Ljubljana (183 inhabitants) and Meßbach (170 inhabitants). In the field of community Dörzbach within the limits from 31 December 1971 There are the disposed villages Albertshof, Dürrenhof and Rortal. In the territory of the former municipality Hohebach are the disposed villages Lieboldsbronn, Esch Bronnen and Ripperg. History

Dörzbach was first documented in the Jagst in 1230 under the name Torzebach. Settlement history, the place of Dörzbach and its sub- sites is much older finds from the Neolithic Age ( 3500 BC ) indicate early settlements. It is proven that Dörzbach was inhabited around 500 BC by the Celts. They put on a rock and source sanctuary. Emperor Rudolf II had the community Dörzbach awarded three market rights in 1583. This is the historical origin of the still held in spring and autumn horse markets.

The oldest still existing components from Eyb castle date from the 12th century. Until the 15th century the castle had a very checkered history with many owners or shareholders. From the late 14th century to 1601 were the masters of Berlichingen owner of the castle - palace complex. Since the year 1601, the now -developed system to the castle is owned by the family of Eyb. Dörzbach was in the Franconian knights circle.

Emperor Rudolph II conferred Dörzbach on June 27, 1583 simultaneously with the market right a coat of arms that connected the wheel out of the Lords of Berlichingen with the beam from the arms of an extinct local noble family. Following the sale of Dörzbach to the Lords of Eyb in 1601 the Eybschen shells replaced ( with the hinge upward swept scallops shown) the wheel in the upper half of the shield. Ljubljana Castle

Above the district of Ljubljana Ljubljana Castle is the barons of Racknitz. Once, a fixed ( robber barons ) castle, it was rebuilt in 1621 by Erhard of Muggenthal to a stately manor in the Renaissance style.

In the district Messbach located next to the built in 1776, equipped with beautiful ceiling paintings rococo church in the castle of the Barons of Palm. It is an oblong square building with three floors and four round towers at the corners of buildings coupled. The castle was probably built before 1750, but completed only in later years by the Lords of Eyb.

In the Jewish cemetery is a memorial stone for the last eight Jewish residents who were deported and killed in the 1940s.

Economy and infrastructure

Jagsttal web

In Dörzbach is the starting station of the Jagsttal web, a former regionally important railway. The Jagsttal track ( track width 750 mm) was always operated as a private company. The design of the 1888 planned steam tram route from Züttlingen about Dörzbach to Bad Mergentheim was modified to a narrow gauge railway. The opposite point of departure of the train was moved from Züttlingen into larger Moeckmuehl, where a connection was to the main line Heilbronn- Lauda. The opening of the branch line in December 1900. Until 1951 there were freight and passenger traffic. Passenger transport ( school transport ) was founded in 1967 temporarily resumed. 1971 addressed the German Society for Railway History ( DGEG ) in cooperation with the SWEG here in the summer months one of the first heritage railway operations (steam locomotives) in Germany. On 23 December 1988 the total was stopped because superstructure defects. Efforts to restart between Dörzbach and herb home resulted in 2002 in the establishment of the municipal Jagsttal Bahn AG.
