Doug Zmolek

Douglas Zmolek ( born November 3, 1970 in Rochester, Minnesota ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player. During his career he played for the San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars, Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League.

Career

Zmolek first played three years from 1989 to 1992 at the University of Minnesota in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Already at the beginning of his college career, the American had been selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 in the first round at the seventh position of the Minnesota North Stars, but was in the summer of 1991 by the newly established San Jose Sharks in the NHL Dispersal Draft taken advantage of.

At the beginning of the 1992/93 season Zmolek was the first time in NHL squad of Sharks and remained there until March 1994 before he was discharged together with Mike Lalor for Ulf Dahlén and a draft law to the Dallas Stars. There, the defender also played two seasons, but was again transferred back to the U.S. West Coast to the Los Angeles Kings in February 1996. In return, Darryl Sydor moved to Dallas. Also in Los Angeles Zmolek did not stay long at home as he, in turn, had to change the club after one and a half years ago, in September 1998.
