Douglas Rain

Douglas Rain ( born 1928 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian actor. He acted first on stage and later came to the film. Rain became famous as the voice of the computer HAL 9000 in the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey and its sequel 2010: The Year We Make Contact.

Douglas Rain studied acting at the Banff School of Fine Arts in Banff (Alberta ) and at the Old Vic School in London, England. His most famous stage role, the title role in Shakespeare's Henry V at a performance in Stratford (Ontario), which was subsequently adopted as a television production.
