Doungou
Region
Doungou is a rural municipality in the Department Kantché in Niger.
Geography
Doungou is located at the junction of Great Landscape Sudan Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Ichirnawa in the north, the east and Droum Matamèye the south and west. The municipality is divided into 24 administrative villages, eight traditional villages, 30 hamlets and two camps. The main town of the rural community is Doungou consisting of the administrative villages Doungou Bougagé and Doungou Haoussa.
History
The rural community Doungou went out in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Kantché.
Population
In the 2011 census Doungou had 22 879 inhabitants. For the year 2010 31.064 inhabitants were calculated. In Doungou members of the mainly Agropastoralismus operated Fulbe subgroup Daourawa live.
