Tsaouni

Region

Tsaouni is a rural municipality in the Department Kantché in Niger.

Geography

Tsaouni is located at the junction of Great Landscape Sudan Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Daouché the northwest, Kantché in the northeast, Matamèye in the east, in the southeast Kourni, Dan Barto in the southwest and Hawandawaki in the West. The municipality is divided into 28 administrative villages, eight traditional villages, 50 hamlets and three camps. The main town of the country church is Tsaouni.

History

The rural community Tsaouni went out in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform a part of the canton Kantché.

Population

At the 2001 census Tsaouni had 21,357 inhabitants. For the year 2010 28.997 inhabitants were calculated. In Tsaouni members of the mainly Agropastoralismus operated Fulbe subgroup Daourawa live.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipality is located in that narrow zone along the border with Nigeria, ranging from Tounouga in the west to the east Malawa and operated in irrigated crop production for cash crops. By Tsaouni the National Road 10, which connects the village with the neighboring communities of Dan Barto and Matamèye runs.
