Dragør Municipality

Dragør commune [ dʀɑ where ː ː ʔʀ ] is a Danish municipality in the Capital Region at the southern tip of the island of Amager.

The municipality is 18.30 km ², has 13.917 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013 ) and includes the towns of Dragør and Søvang. The only neighboring community is Tårnby in the north, east and south the municipality is limited by the Sound, to the west by the bay of Køge ( Køge Bugt ).

History

The municipality was formed on 1 April 1974, when the municipalities Store Magleby and Dragør were pooled. In the municipal reform of 2007, the municipality was excluded, although they are fewer than 20,000 inhabitants.

In the Middle Ages Dragør next Skanör - Falsterbo was an important place for fishing for herring during the Scanian fair.

Villages in the municipality

The area contains the following parish communities (Danish: Sogn ) and villages with over 200 inhabitants ( byer as defined by the Danish Bureau of Statistics ), with a registered population of zero, the place in the past had more than 200 inhabitants. With the merger of Store Magleby municipality and the municipality Dragør 1974, the village of Store Magleby was randomly assigned Dragør.
