The Drakkars de Caen (official name: Hockey Club de Caen ) is a French ice hockey team from Caen, which was founded in 1968 and in the Ligue Magnus, the highest French Hockey League, plays.

Play their home games out of the club in the 856 -seat Patinoire de Caen la mer.

History

The Hockey Club de Caen was founded in 1968. His biggest success was to celebrate the club in 2000, when they surprisingly the Coupe de France, the national cup competition won. Only two years earlier Caen rose as a master of Division 1 of the Ligue Magnus, the highest French Hockey League. But already in the 2000/01 season, the first under the cup triumph, one rose last but one after only three years from the first division from. Only in the 2005/06 season the Drakkars played again in the Ligue Magnus. In the first season after their comeback, they were third from bottom of 14 teams. In the season 2006/ 07 they reached the Fourth last qualifying round of the playoffs, in which one they lost 0-2 games the Gothiques d' Amiens.

After a disappointing last place in the 2007/ 08 season Caen suffered relegation from Ligue Magnus within seven years for the second time. In the 2009/10 season succeeded as First Place Division 1 and subsequent victories in the play-off promotion back to the top flight.

In addition, the club participated in the 2000 /01 season at the discharge of the IIHF Continental Cup. In a group of the Herning Blue Fox, Nijmegen Tigers and the CH Txuri Urdin get two wins, a game was lost. As a group, second behind the Herning Blue Fox of the collection was missed in the second round.
