Dramatens elevskola

The Kungliga Dramatiska Teaterns Elevskola, short drama Tens elevskola in Stockholm was a major drama school in Sweden. It was operated by the Royal Dramatic Theatre ( Dramaten ).

History

The school was built in 1787 by Gustav III. founded. The affiliation with the Royal Dramatic Theatre led to a practical training, which included in addition to the mandatory language training also dance, fencing mask and education. From originally a year of training were at the end of their three, including subsequent duty year at the National Theatre.

1964 promoted Ingmar Bergman, the then director of the Dramatan, the solution perceived as stressful school of theater, a decision which he later regretted. In following three university facilities in Gothenburg, Lund and Luleå were created, Teaterhögskolan i Stockholm remained independent until now.
