Drammen HK

Drammen Håndballklubb is a Norwegian handball club from Drammen. The men's department plays in the Norwegian Elite Series and won it in 2007; the ladies department plays in the first division. Home ground is the Drammenshallen

Men's department ( DHK )

History

The club was founded on March 3, 1992 at the General Assembly two clubs Reistad IL from Lier and Sturla IF from Drammen. The two teams had to create a erstligataugliches team, in their region, and therefore transferred the players their first teams to the newly founded Drammen HK. Reistad and Sturla but did not dissolve completely on, but now mainly focused on youth work.

Drammen HK was the starting place of the former team of Reistad IL, who won the 1st Division and was moved up to the Elite series for the 1992/93 season. The newly formed team but rose again from 1993.

Then the Swede Andersson took over as coach; his team - already belonged to the later national player Frode Hagen and Glenn Solberg - 1994 rose up again immediately. From then on, Drammen became the top team in the Elite Series in 1995 one was - as promoted - now second in the league in 1996 as the first Norwegian third parties and club ever European champions ( City Cup) and 1997 champion for the first time. However, the club was unable to keep his performers: Still in summer 1997 Frode Hagen went to the SG Flensburg- Handewitt, Glenn Solberg and coach Kent-Harry Andersson for HSG Nordhorn. 2006 brought Drammen his former stars Glenn Solberg and Frode Hagen back to Norway. Prompt the team won the Norwegian championship and reached the finals of the EHF Challenge Cup, where it foundered, however, the Romanian club UCM Resita. In the 2007 /08 season Drammen HK plays in the EHF Champions League.

History

The women's department was not until 1999, when the two women's teams from Åssiden and Sturla aufgingen HK in the larger Drammen. The team took over for the 1999/2000 season the starting place of Åssiden, which was relegated to the second division. In 2001, the team got back into the first division.
