Second Deepest lake in Poland

Jezioro Drawskie ( German Dratzigsee ) is in the northwest of Poland and is the largest lake in the Pomeranian Lake District. With up to 83 meters depth ( Schaalsee: 71.5 m, Starnberger See: 127.7 m ), he is after Hańcza Lake is the second deepest lake in Poland. In the lake there are 14 islands, of which the island Bielawa ( Kalkwerder ) covers an area of about 80 hectares.

The Rinnensee created by melt water from a glacier during the last ice age. The shores of the bay rich lake are very steep and below the shoreline. In a landslide in 1790 sank a peninsula with a parade ground in the lake. From 1854-1858 there was a lowering of the water level by 2.5 m.

On the southeast tip of the lake lies the town Czaplinek ( Tempelburg ). On the eastern bank, the village lies Stare Drawsko (Alt Draheim ) with the ruins Draheim.
