Dream Street (Janet Jackson album)

Dream Street is the second studio album by Janet Jackson, released in October 1984 by A & M Records.

History

Compared to the debut album, Dream Street was even more dance-pop - oriented. Also new was the participation of other members of the Jackson family. It was produced by Marlon Jackson, Michael Jackson and also picked up some little vocal passages.

Four singles were released, including Two to the Power of Love, a duet with Cliff Richard. The album reached number 147 on the charts in the U.S. and thus was not a great success. This became apparent in the successor Control.

Criticism

The website Allmusic described above all Do not Stand Another Chance to be outstanding as a " family affair ". Also, the radio piece Pretty Boy and the pieces Hold Back the Tears and If It Takes All Night were called, the last two as " satisfactory 80s Pop ".
