Janet Jackson is the debut album by Janet Jackson, released in September 1982 by A & M Records.
History
Janet Jackson was known primarily as a television actress before she signed her contract with A & M, for example, she played in the series Good Times. In the series Diff'rent Strokes, where she also starred she later sang then parts of the play The Magic Is Working. For her album she wanted no involvement of their family members. After all, the cover photo was taken in the swimming pool of the Jackson family. The songs on the album were mostly dance-pop numbers and quite simply made ballads.
Five singles were released, including Young Love and Give Your Love to Me The album reached number 63 on the charts in the U.S..
Criticism
The website Allmusic wrote that Jackson had not yet developed his own musical personality on the album. The marvel not, Jackson was still a teenager. Only the first single, Young Love, prick under the "Disco - pounders " out.
