Production

Control is the third studio album by American singer Janet Jackson. It was published on 6 February 1986 by the record company A & M Records. The sound of the album and the music is determined by unconventional blends of R & B, Funk, Disco, Hip Hop and synth percussion instruments. Jackson's lyrics deal mainly with the changed circumstances in their lives and treat mainly autobiographical themes.

Control proved to be both commercial and artistically as a success. The album reached # 1 on the American charts, a total of five singles were in the Top Five and also successful worldwide. Most of the critics Control has been praised effusively, leading media analyzed in detail the content of the album especially. For many critics Jackson revolutionized with this album, contemporary music and established itself in the R & B sector as a superstar.

The album was showered with many honors, among other things, it was nominated for a Grammy in 1987 for the main category "Best Album". The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame described it as one of the 200 best albums of all time.

History

Joseph Jackson, patriarch of the Jackson family, was known as the manager of the band The Jackson Five. Later he arranged for Janet Jackson a record deal with the label A & M Records, the first two albums, which were also taken care of by the brothers Marlon and Michael Jackson, and Jesse Johnson flopped. After the rainfall Jackson fired her father as manager and asked for a John McClain, an employee of A & M Records. Through his contact she confided ( against the sake of their parents) the duo Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, which had already worked with variables such as Prince and The Human League. By means of this cooperation Jackson celebrated at that time at the age of 20 years, their long-awaited big break.

Musically, the album Control varies the directions rhythm and blues, funk, disco and rap, also come the drums a synthesizer, which finds itself in the 1980s in Contemporary R & B.

After the release the album broke into the U.S. album charts from Whitney Houston's self-titled album and was in turn replaced by Patti LaBelle Album Winner in You.
