Dreisesselberg (Bavarian Forest)

The Dreisesselberg (Czech: Třístoličník ) is a 1333 m above sea level. NN -high mountain in the Bavarian Forest in Bavaria ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Dreisesselberg is located in the district of Freyung -Grafenau in the eastern part of Lower Bavaria. He rises southeast of the community Haidmuehle and northeast of the village of Neureichenau.

Description

At the highest point of the Dreisesselberg mountain, called Hochstein, there is a distinctive granite rock with summit cross, from which one has a good view. History

According to a legend, which tells also Adalbert Stifter in his high forest, the kings of Bavaria, Bohemia and Austria are to once have gathered on the summit of Dreisesselberg mountain to negotiate the boundaries of their dominions. In fact, the name " Dreisessel " only came into use in the 17th century, initially for the striking rock group on the summit, but soon the whole mountain. Adalbert Stifter put the Dreisesselberg except in the narrative Hochwald in his last novel, Witiko, and in his last story, from the baierischen forest (both 1867), a literary monument.
