Drew Remenda

Drew Remenda ( born April 13, 1962 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey coach and currently a commentator for playing the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League.

Career

Remenda began his coaching career in the 1980s, the Canadian Hockey Association Canada as a video coordinator, before assistant coach of the hockey team at the University of Calgary in 1988. In 1991, boarded the San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League, they hired Remenda as assistant coach. In the position he remained until 1995 and worked as under the head coaches George Kingston and Kevin Constantine, before shortly after the start of the 1995/96 season with the working also as an assistant coach Vasily Tikhonov in the coaching staff of the Kansas City Blades, the former IHL farm team of the Sharks, was deported and replaced.

After only one year commitment to the Kansas City Blades Remenda analyst was at the radio broadcasts of the matches of the San Jose Sharks and commented on the side of Dan Rusanowsky. In 1999 he moved to the television station Fox Sports Net Bay Area, who was responsible at that time for the transfer of Sharks games. He worked there for seven years as an analyst, along with commentator Randy Hahn and has received numerous awards for his achievements. So he received in the years 1999, 2001 and 2006 a Bay Area Emmy Award. In addition, he hosted the show Shark Byte, the insights offered behind the scenes of the San Jose Sharks.

In May 2006 Remenda announced in an intermission of a playoff game, the Sharks his departure from San Jose. During the season 2006/ 07 he worked for the Canadian station CBC as a color commentator and analyst for live broadcasts. He came back a few times during the season as an analyst for FSN Bay Area, when CBC was the Sharks games. In addition, he replaced his successor Marty McSorley, who was not available due to personal reasons in two playoff games.

On 1 August 2007 the San Jose Sharks announced that Drew Remenda back to their organization as a commentator and analyst for FSN Bay Area (now Comcast SportsNet Bay Area ) returns and the moderation of the popular show Shark Byte will take over again.
