Driven

Driven is an action film about car racing from 2001. Directed by Renny Harlin. The cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Burt Reynolds and Til Schweiger.

Action

Jimmy Bly is the young, talented driver of the racing team of Carl Henry, a paraplegic and possessed by successful racing team owner. After Jimmy has won some races and becomes a serious competitor for the established German success driver Beau Brandenburg, he gets more and more into the spotlight. From his brother, who is also his manager, forced to ever more press events, the pressure on Jimmy rises more and more, and its services can be claimed, therefore, Henry decides to reactivate the retired former champion Joe Tanto, support the Jimmy and him to keep clear the back. Tanto is able to get through to Jimmy, who has now fallen in love with the ex-girlfriend of Brandenburg. Jimmy's performance got better until it comes at the Lausitzring showdown in the race. The teammate of Jimmy, Memo Moreno, who now sits in the cockpit instead of Tanto, gets into a serious accident. Bly and Brandenburg break from the race to help him, and thus save his life. In the bailout Jimmy is injured, however, and can compete in the last race without pain. Despite his pain, he can win the championship in the last race.

Background

The film was shot from 6 July to 12 October 2000. 's Budget was approximately 72 million U.S. dollars. The film was premiered in the U.S. on 16 April 2001.

The film takes on some ( mostly disused ) Original racetracks in the Champ Car series in Chicago, Motegi, Detroit and the Euro Speedway in Lausitz. Also, some scenes of the race from Detroit come from the routes in Long Beach and Montreal. The race at the Lausitzring has been rotated to a large extent on the Contidrom near Hanover. In the racing scenes are Juan Pablo Montoya, Mark Blundell ( Bly ) and Maurício Gugelmin ( Tanto ) - but only under their helmets - to see.

It can be seen during the film and that it was originally intended as a Formula 1 film, as Bly passes the racing calendar and it shows up including the Nürburgring.

2002 Estella Warren received a Razzie as Worst Supporting Actress. In six other categories, there were nominations for this anti price. Moreover, the events for the Golden Trailer Award in the category of Best Action Trailer was nominated.
