Drosera peruensis

Drosera peruensis is a carnivorous plant in the genus Sundew ( Drosera ). It is native to Peru and was first described in 2002 by Tânia Regina dos Santos Silva and Mireya D. Correa based on herbarium material.

Description

Drosera peruensis are as a rosette growing herbaceous plant which grows to a height of 4 to 11.5 centimeters, the shoot axis alone reaches a length of 2-4 centimeters.

The leaves are red, 10 to 12 centimeters long, pendulous in old age. The petioles are 6-7 inches long and 1 mm wide, hairy on the upper side and smooth on the bottom. The leaf blade is inversely - ovate to oblong- round, 4-7 inches long and about 1 mm wide, hairy shaggy, on the upper leaf surface with glandular hairs on the underside of leaves with thread-like trichomes that are 2 to 2.5 millimeters long and golden. The stipules are oblong, membranous and schlitzblättrig, up to 7 mm long and slotted over approximately 6 millimeters.

Flowering and fruiting time is in October. The one or two inflorescences are 4-7 inches long, tinged with red and covered with filiform trichomes and carry 2 or 4 flowers. The inflorescence axis is 3.5 to 6 inches long, the pedicel reddish. The sepals are fused, reddish, occupied the individual obround lobes up to 4 millimeters long and 1.5 millimeters wide and with reddish trichomes. The petals are white or red, the ovary consists of three carpels. The three pens are bifurcated from the roots, the club-shaped six scars. The seeds are oblong- round, the surface reticulate.

Dissemination

The type is in the region of Pasco ( Oxapampa, Cordillera Yanachaga ) in Peru native, the only known examples come from including the collection of the holotype. There, the species grows in scrubland on white sandstone, covered by shrubs and associated with peat moss, the ceiling reached up to two meters thick.
