Droste-Preis

The Droste Prize is one conferred by the city of Meersburg on German -language writers Literary Award. It is awarded in memory of Annette von Droste- Hulshoff during Meersburger Droste Literature Festival since 1957. The main prize for a work as a whole is endowed with 6,000 euros, the. History

To mark the 100th anniversary of the death of Annette von Droste- 1948 found in Meersburg instead Literature Festival, which presented the poet with lectures and readings at the center. The town of Meersburg decided due to the success to continue this and to make future poets for event focus. In 1962, it supported by the Bodensee- Club eV Überlingen the city, which established the statutes of this together with Annette von Droste- Gesellschaft eV in Münster. In a direct reference to Annette von Droste- Hulshoff the city wants to honor and promote women writers since then, the "somewhat on the edge of the literary stand [ ... ] who refuse to take the literary fashions of their time ."

It is yet another literary prize named after the poetess, the Annette von Droste- Prize, also called Westphalian Literature Prize, which exists independently of Meersburger Droste Prize.
