Drum Tower

A drum tower (Chinese鼓楼/鼓楼, Pinyin gǔlóu, Japanese Koro ) is a built in ancient Chinese or East Asian cities or in traditional temples for building laid down by that large signal drums. As a rule, form bell tower (Chinese钟楼/钟楼, Pinyin Zhonglou, Japanese shoro ) and Drum Tower an architectural couple under the name Drum and Bell Tower (Chinese钟 鼓楼/钟 鼓楼, Pinyin zhōng - gǔlóu ). They usually can be found in the village and were also used for time information or for celebrations.

Various Chinese municipalities and other places are named after it and bearing its name Gulou ( see main article Gulou ).

Among the most famous monuments of this kind include the Drum Tower of Beijing and Xi'an in Shaanxi. Several drum towers ( and bell towers ) are on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China, including the latter two, as well as on the monument lists the provincial level, etc.
