DStv

Digital Satellite Television ( better known as DStv ) is the digital multi-channel pay-TV services to MultiChoice in Africa. The operation began in 1995. It is sent in southern Africa on Ku tape. To receive a relatively small satellite reception system is only necessary. Other countries in Africa on DStv receive Ku band- and C-band a larger facility is required for its reception. In South Africa, also the three public channels of the South African Broadcasting Corporation, including SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3 and the private stations can be received digitally e.tv. In other countries, subscribers can only receive the SABC Africa. The same applies, for example, for the public broadcasters in Namibia, Namibian Broadcasting Corporation ( NBC), which can be received only in Namibia.

DStv is one of the most innovative and modern pay-TV deals worldwide. Among them is the Personal Video Recorder ( PVR) that allows simultaneous recording and playback of shows.

DStv offers the standard bouquet also a Portuguese and Indian bouquet ready. The German bouquet was discontinued in 2007 and was partially accepted by Deukom.
