Duino-Aurisina
Duino- Aurisina (Slovenian Devin Nabrežina, German Thübein - Nabreschin or Tybein ) is a municipality with 8589 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) on the Adriatic Sea in northeast Italy in the Friuli- Venezia Giulia and Trieste province. In the Middle Ages until 1399 was the domination Duino fief and there Situated on the coastal castle of the same ancestral seat of the lords of Duino; after the extinction of the lords of Duino both went to their relatives, the Lords of Walsee over. Neighboring municipalities are Doberdò del Lago (GO), Monfalcone (GO), Sgonico - Zgonik and Trieste.
Attractions
In Duino there are several very interesting churches, some of which are on late antique foundations. In addition, the site has the same on several castles and castle-like locks.
Duino Castle
The best known system, the New Palace, which today is owned by the Charles Prince of Thurn und Taxis family and is inhabited by her, among other things, shows the famous Palladian staircase. In Aurisina there are several quarries, including one from the Roman period ( Cava romana ) in which karst marbles are obtained. Limestone from this mining area was used in addition to sandstone from around Muggia and Istrian limestone for buildings in Aquileia.
