Duke of Gordon

Duke of Gordon is a British hereditary title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, named after the Clan Gordon. The title was first awarded already in the Peerage of Scotland. Today, the title of the Duke of Richmond, Lennox and Gordon are united in the family Gordon - Lennox. The family seat Gordon - Lennox Goodwood House near Chichester in West Sussex.

Ceremonies

The title of the Duke of Gordon was first awarded in 1684 to 4 George Gordon, Marquess of Huntly. The Gordon family, whose ancestral home was Gordon Castle, died in 1836 from the male line. The second award was presented in 1876 to Charles Henry Gordon - Lennox, 6th Duke of Richmond, the nephew of the 5th Duke of Gordon.
