Duncan Dokiwari

Duncan Dokiwari (* October 15, 1973 in Port Harcourt ) is a Nigerian boxer.

Amateur career

Dokiwari won 55 amateur fights ( 46 KOs) with five defeats. In 1994 he won the super heavyweight Commonwealth Games in Victoria. He defeated inter alia Danny Williams on points.

After he had also won the 1995 Africa Games, he took part in the Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996. With each early victories in the first three tournament rounds, he qualified for the semifinals against Paea Wolfgramm, of this encounter, however, could just decide with 7:6 points for themselves. Dokiwari received the bronze medal for the thus achieved third place.

Professional career

1997 Dokiwari began his professional career in the United States. After twelve victories against construction opponent he met on January 16, 1999 to the still undefeated Fres Oquendo. Dokiwari lost this fight over six rounds by points: his first defeat in the professional business.

Then he had a series of ten victories, until he met on 26 September 2003 on the also undefeated Dominick Guinn, against whom he suffered his second defeat over ten rounds. Already in the next fight - against the little-known Stacy Frazier - he lost again, this time by technical knockout in the first round. After this last, surprising defeat Dokiwari took a two year sabbatical from boxing and returned only in 2006 back into the ring.
