Duncan Kenworthy

Duncan Kenworthy ( born September 9, 1949 in Yorkshire, England ) is a British film and television producer who became known for his work with Jim Henson.

Biography

Duncan Kenworthy was born in 1949 in Yorkshire, England. He grew up in the village of Uppermill on the edge of Saddleworth Moor, where his father owned a textile mill. Kenworthy's career began after completing his studies at Cambridge and at the University of Pennsylvania, in the 1970s, with his work for Jim Henson. He has worked among others as executive producer for series such as Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock and The Storyteller and for such films as The Dark Crystal. From 1988 to 1995 he was vice-president of Jim Henson Productions.

Besides working for Henson Kenworthy was also working for others. He produced the 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral, which was, inter alia, nominated for an Oscar for best film. Together with the British film producer Andrew Macdonald 1997, he founded the production company DNA Films, which has released such films as fact ... Love and 28 Days Later.

Kenworthy has worked on several of his productions, including in Four Weddings and a Funeral and Notting Hill, with screenwriter Richard Curtis together.
