Duplicity - Joint secret thing is an American spy comedy by Tony Gilroy with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen in the year 2009.

Action

July 4, 2003: The MI6 spy Ray Koval hits on the U.S. Independence Day in the U.S. embassy in Dubai on the CIA agent Claire Stenwick. He seduced her, and Claire drugged him so she can steal Egyptian missile codes from him.

Five years later, he meets her by chance in New York again. Claire was obscured by equikrom hired to work as a spy at Burkett & Randle ( B & R), its direct competitor, in the department of corporate security. When the boss of B & R, Howard Tully, his security department announces a new product, so this keeps it secret, learns his rival Richard Garsik nine days before its shareholder meeting on a discarded copy of it. He then sets everything to find out what it is. Its safety department may by Ray access to " unsecured " travel services from B & R can get and copy as dates of the last six years. They also tap into inconspicuously Copier B & R's.

In the course of further investigation, the spy team of equikrom encounters a small company in Dunwoody, Georgia, which is to be active in the field of biotechnology and was bought by B & R. The founder, Dr. Ronny Partiz, now lives in the Bahamas in a penthouse suite of a noble hotel. Ray and another colleague are trying to spy on Ronny's room, but are stopped by Claire by fake foul play. B & R brings Partiz back to New York. Tully Claire in consecrates the type of product one - it is a hair restorer.

Garsik does everything it can to bring the formula for the center itself. As a colleague of Claire at B & R is trying to steal the formula, there is an opportunity and Claire copies the formula on a buggy copier. Here, Claire and Ray procure unnoticed also a copy of the formula.

Claire and Ray travel to Zurich to meet there in a hotel with buyers of the formula. At the same time the sale of the formula keeps Garsik from its shareholder meeting and announces that his company had developed a cure for hair loss. On sale table in Switzerland learn Ray and Claire that it is for the formula to a normal lotion. After the bursting of sale of Formula Ray and Claire are sitting in the lobby of the hotel, as they get a bottle of champagne with a blank card by Howard Tully. It turns out that the head of the security department of equikrom Pam Frailes ( Kathleen Chalfant ) is a spy of B & R and have thus deceived Tully and his counterintelligence department both competitors Garsik as well as Claire and Ray.

Criticism

" The entertainment value of the movie is pretty good. Frequent moviegoers are the story, however, see through soon - and then it will be a little bland. "

Awards

Julia Roberts was nominated for her role as Claire Stenwick for a Golden Globe.
