Dušan Třeštík

Dušan Třeštík ( born August 1, 1933 Sobědruhy; † August 23, 2007 in Prague) was a Czech historian and publicist.

Třeštík ended 1956, the study of history at the Philosophical Faculty of the Charles University in Prague. From 1958 he worked at the Historical Institute of the Academy of Sciences. After 1989 he worked as a journalist. His last job was the Centre for Medieval Studies Prague, a joint facility of the Academy of Sciences and Charles University. Třeštík was married to the historian Barbara Krzemieńská.

Třeštíks work significantly shaped the current approach of the " Czech" Early Middle Ages. He also grappled with theoretical questions of historical science. In his works, and in media, he commented on current issues in the Czech contemporary history, the basis of which he enjoyed a high reputation in the public.
