Duško Pavasovič

Dusko Pavasovic (* October 15, 1976 in Split, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Slovenian chess player and coach of Croatian origin.

In 1994 he was second in the Slovenian U18 Individual Championship in Kranj. In 1995 he won the Open in Raika Paternion - Feffernitz. 1997 Krško and 1998 in Maribor, he finished in the Slovenian Single Cup second place in 1999, he could win the Slovenian Cup ( in Kranj ) and was Grand Master. In July 2000 he won the Open Championship in the Carinthian State Sankt Veit an der Glan. He was first in the Hit Open in Nova Gorica, 2003 there tied for first in 2002. In the same year he again took part in the Slovenian Championship and was tied in second place. In April 2006 he won the Neckar Open in Deizisau and in June 2006 the Open in Pula. In July 2006, he was the second time Slovenian champion, this time in Ljubljana. In the 2007 European Championship in Dresden occupied the fourth place. He had in this tournament in 2765 with the highest Elo performance of all participating players in the men's competition. In the same year he won the 17th Dr. Milan Vidmar Memorial in Ljubljana with 1.5 points ahead. The Slovenian championship he won again in August 2007 in Ljubljana ( in three-point rating by six points ) and again in February 2009, Hit Open in Nova Gorica. Since 2013 he has the title FIDE Trainer.

For Slovenia, he took between 1998 and 2010 for seven consecutive Chess Olympiads ( 32, = 25, -18 ) and 1997-2013 in eight European championships ( 13, = 34, -11 ) part. Also in the Mitropa Cup, he was successful. In seven appearances ( 23, = 32, -7 ), he won three team gold (1997 in Montecatini Terme on board 2, 2002 in Leipzig on board 2 and 2005 in stone Brunn on board 1) and twice the team bronze medal (1998 in Portorož, on board 2 and 2003 in Pula on board 1). In 1997 he won the Mitropa Cup in addition an individual gold medal for his score of 6 out of 9 At the Chess Olympiad 2012 in Istanbul Pavasovic was not playing captain of the Slovenian national team.

Chess club he plays in the Austrian (for the SK Maria Saal ), French ( Cercle d' Echecs de Rueil Malmaison ), Slovenia (formerly the LSK Metalka Trgovina, then for the ŠD Ptuj ), Croatian (for the ŠK Liburnija Rijeka), Greek ( for Mytilini) and Italian ( for ASA Ancona) 1st League. With the Csuti Antal SK. Zalaegerszeg he won in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008 in Hungary the team championship.

His Elo rating is 2563 (as of November 2013), so it is on the fifth place in the Slovenian Elo ranking. His previous best Elo rating was 2615 in January 2004. He was then 86 of the FIDE world ranking list.
