The DPD Dynamic Parcel Distribution GmbH & Co. KG (Brief description DPD ) is a courier express parcel services and franchise companies with contract partners in around 40 countries.

History

The company was founded in 1976 as the " German DPD parcel service " of 18 German haulage companies. Founding shareholders were, inter alia, the Honold Logistik Gruppe ( Neu-Ulm ), Hellmann (Osnabrück), random ( Fulda), Streck ( Lörrach ), Cordes & Simon ( Hagen), TTF ( Flensburg ), Brain House ( Koblenz ), and time freight ( Berlin).

In the founding year, 1.4 million packages were transported, in 1980 there were seven million in 2012, 2.5 million packages daily.

Since 2001, DPD is owned by the French company GeoPost, a subsidiary of France's La Poste. GeoPost holds a stake of 83.32 % in DPD. Other shareholders are DPD DPD system logistics and freight time.

For December 13, 2007 the company was renamed DPD Dynamic Parcel Distribution.

In spring 2010, Hermes Europe and DPD launched the joint venture Hermes Russia.

Since August 2013 DPD is involved with 20 percent as the largest external shareholder in which was founded in Munich in 2010 courier tiramizoo.

Package Shipping

The company transports a national and international standard and express packages to commercial and private recipient (B2B and B2C). Small shippers can DPD packets in package stores ships within the EU or online instruct a pickup.
