Dziergowice

Or Walde ( until 1931 Dziergowitz ), Polish Dziergowice, is a town in Upper Silesia. Or forest located in the municipality Birawa in powiat Kędzierzyńsko - Kozielski ( circle Kędzierzyn - Cosel ) in the Polish Opole Voivodeship. With almost 2000 inhabitants or forest is the largest district of the municipality. Since 2007, Or forest is officially bilingual (Polish and German ).

Or Walde is located seven kilometers south-east of the municipal center Birawa, 14 kilometers southeast of the county town of Kędzierzyn -Koźle ( Kędzierzyn - Cosel ) and 54 kilometers southeast of the Opole voivodship.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1274 in records.

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 279 voters voted to remain in Germany and 857 for Poland .. Dziergowitz remained with the German Reich. 1931 Dziergowitz was renamed or forest. 1933 lived 1,938 residents in the town. 1939, the place had 1,991 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Cosel.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration, was renamed Dziergowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the newly founded city of powiat Kędzierzyńsko - Kozielski. On 23 April 2007, the German or the forest was in the community Birawa, plays, introduced as a second official language.
